At the end of 2014, I finished one of my favorite books of the year, Wisdom from the Couch, written by one of my favorite graduate school professors, Jennifer Kunst. Dr. Kunst was one of my favorites, one, because she taught about psychoanalytic ideas, which interested me most in my graduate studies, and two, because she had a knack for explaining extremely complex ideas in a common-sense kind of way. Her book is no different—Dr. Kunst takes the complex ideas of psychoanalytic psychology that I often fail to explain to others, and explains them in an easily graspable and applicable way. I have quickly become a Wisdom from the Couch evangelist, recommending the book to at least half of my clients, and buying copies as Christmas gifts for a number of my family…
